Job Description

You are a service-oriented individual who can develop and implement effective communication strategies at MPAC, ensuring alignment and support to the overall Communications Department strategy. You provide strategic counsel and advice to MPAC’s branches in the delivery of communication initiatives.

You have: 

  • College diploma or University degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or other related field 
  • At least 5 years’ experience in progressively responsible communications positions, preferably within a government agency and/or broader public sector environment, with a minimum of 3 years project management capacity
  • Advanced abilities in researching and writing corporate communications materials, with experience in various mediums and styles including formal briefing/board reports, news releases, speeches, articles, brochures, social media, general correspondence, multimedia and internal employee communication materials 
  • Demonstrated collaboration and interpersonal skills to address all levels of the organization, and external stakeholders including Ontario municipal and provincial governments
  • Adept understanding of communication strategies and initiatives with the ability to show how they align with organizational direction and vision
  • Strong project management skills required to manage multiple projects, staff and vendors/suppliers
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products and web-based tools; and
  • Strong problem solving skills used to diagnose communication issues, research potential options, determine the best course of action and recommend solutions

 

What you will do:

  • Provide input into MPAC’s communications planning within the framework of an integrated communications strategy, in support of MPAC’s overall strategic objectives
  • Work closely with internal clients to formulate communications plans (including deliverables, service levels, budget and priorities)
  • Develop and maintain corporate communication projects ensuring that internal clients and audience requirements are included in all plans
  • Design measurements communications plans’ effectiveness and develop recommendations for continuous improvements
  • Ensure alignment of departmental and corporate branding strategies, including the dissemination and governance of corporate strategic, visual identification and key message standards
  • Support development of communications policies, procedures, processes and guidelines while ensuring that they align with corporate goals
  • Act as the primary contact to each department for communication services, providing counsel and feedback to each branch on service planning, sourcing, costing and related inquiries
  • Develop strong working relationships with clients as well as departmental leadership by providing confidential, strategic communications advice and support on programs and initiatives
