Become a Data Services Generalist (7) - Permanent (5) & Temporary Assignment up to 12 Months (2) with MPAC

You are an eager individual who can provide support to Valuation Data Services by providing timely, accurate, and efficient compilation, input, verification, and correction of information used in assessment business processes and products.

You have: 

  • Completion of high school diploma
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in compiling, inputting and verifying information preferably within a large processing centre environment
  • General understanding of MPAC’s business and the relevant sections of the Assessment and Municipal Act
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and database systems
  • Basic mathematical skills for survey calculations and to resolve land parcel issues
  • Strong oral/written communication skills with a customer service focus and excellent teamwork skills

 

Nice to have:

  • Completion of or working towards post-secondary education in Real Property Valuation, Geography, Urban Studies or related field
  • Prior experience in property assessment or municipal taxation
  • An understanding of legal descriptions, registered subdivision and reference plans, survey maps, aerial photographs and satellite imagery to extract relevant property data

 

What you will do: 

  • Verify, interpret and reconcile land registry and other documents, resolve discrepancies and input relevant information into databases
  • Respond to internal inquiries for land parcel information and assist in searching and interpreting maps and other documentation
  • Process legal documents and plans from the land registry/land title offices, POLARIS, land use permits, and licenses of occupation from the Ministry of Natural Resources
  • Calculate and input measurements, site dimensions and property area based on plans and surveys
  • Vet the data provided by third party vendors for ingestion to MPAC databases
  • Maintain and track information retrieved from multiple sources such as Geowarehouse, GIS maps, aerial photography, municipal departments, architect/builder plans
  • Monitor and investigate internal/external enquiries regarding processing/keying errors taking corrective action as needed
