Job Description
What makes you great for this role?
You are an executive-level strategic leadership and technical expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), shaping the organization's overall technology vision and strategy. This role will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive AI/ML roadmap that aligns with and drives key business objectives across all departments. The director will lead cross-functional initiatives, fostering innovation and research to keep the organization at the forefront of AI/ML advancements.

You have:
- Completion of post-secondary education in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field required
- 7 years of progressively responsible experience in IT operations with at least 2 years’ experience in AI, Machine Learning and foundational and computer vision models, and a minimum of 5 years of experience leading or managing a technical discipline
- Proficiency in AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Pytorch)
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and services (e.g. AWS, Azure)
- Experience with Agile methodologies, Scrum practices, and software development life cycles (SDLC)
- Advanced program management experience; advanced project management experience including demonstrated ability to manage complex strategic and operational issues, problem and conflict resolution, financial planning and analysis, scheduling and resource allocations
- Proven leadership skills used to build effective teams, influence stakeholders, and provide strategic advice on corporate priorities and resource allocation
- Experience developing business cases, conducting business analysis (e.g., Return on Investment, cost/benefit analysis) and budgeting
- Ability to influence management and build credibility across the organization
- Occasional travel when required (less than 25%)
Nice to have:
- Certification in Agile
- Certifications as an AI Professional leader (University certificate preferred), Certified Machine Learning Engineer (CMLE), or equivalent (opportunity to pursue certifications upon hire)
What you will do:
- Lead the team dedicated to creating AI/ML solutions that will be used across the business: Supervise a team of NLP and Generative AI specialists, offering direction, mentorship, and technical advice
- Provide technical direction and leadership towards the implementation of AI technologies and automation within the business; Pave the Way: Design and implement an innovative strategy for developing and deploying Generative AI and RAG solutions throughout the organization
- Lead the end-to-end development lifecycle for AI project initiatives aligning with overall business objectives
- Accountable for overseeing the design, development, testing and deployment of AI solutions
- Define and implement evaluation metrics to measure the effectiveness and impact of AI solutions, driving continuous improvement and optimization
- Expertise in communicating AI/ML advantages and demonstrate knowledge to all levels within an organization to gain confidence of industry experts and customers/clients
- Support a best practice learning environment to allow successful management, coaching and mentoring of staff
- Identify unit operating budget requirements, monitor and forecast monthly allocations and develop plans to mitigate variances
