You are a strategic and collaborative HR professional with expertise in employee and labour relations. You provide guidance on ER/LR strategies, policies, and workplace issues, including disputes, investigations, and collective bargaining. Using strong analytical, conflict-resolution, and negotiation skills, you deliver practical and fair solutions with accountability and transparency. You communicate decisions clearly, navigate complex situations with professionalism, and help foster a safe, respectful, and high-performing workplace.

You have: 

  • Post-secondary education in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • 5 years of experience in human resources, with 3 years specializing in employee and labour relations role within a broader public sector agency and/or medium to large sized private or public corporation with unionized workforces
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, collective agreements, and labour relations frameworks
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with union representatives, employees, and management
  • Conflict resolution, mediation, and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive, flexible and able to work in a high performing work environment
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to head office and field offices across Ontario as needed


Nice to have: 

  • Certified Human Resources Professional/Leader (CHRP/L) designation


What you will do: 

  • Develop and administer the grievance management process, including mediation, arbitration procedures, and negotiation of settlements
  • Lead investigations of employee misconduct and provide guidance on corrective actions
  • Advise managers on the implementation, interpretation, and application of Employee and Labour Relations policies, legislation, and collective agreements
  • Facilitate mediation sessions to resolve workplace conflicts and build positive working relationships
  • Collaborate with union representatives and participate in union-management committee meetings
  • Support collective bargaining preparation and negotiations alongside senior management
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and documentation for employee and labour relations, health and safety, and WSIB matters, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and legislative requirements
  • Implement and oversee health and safety programs, including Joint Health & Safety Committees and ergonomics, while managing accident reporting, WSIB compliance, and related records
  • Provide backup support for leave management and disability claims processes as needed
  • Monitor compliance with labour laws, regulations, and collective agreements, and implement corrective actions as necessary
  • Provide guidance on workplace accommodations and return-to-work plans
  • Track metrics, analyze trends, and provide insights to inform policy improvements and proactive strategies
  • Undertake other duties as assigned
