You have: 

  • Current enrollment in a post-secondary education in an IT related field such as Computer Science, with a confirmed return to school in September
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Basic experience or coursework in writing clear, well-documented code and familiarity with source version control tools
  • Exposure to front-end web development concepts, with experience using or learning technologies such as Angular or ReactJS, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivation, be a team player and possess action-and-results oriented skills
  • The ability to meet deadlines and implement instructions under pressure
  • Must meet Ontario's minimum working age for the job duties required

 

Nice to have: 

  • Basic programming knowledge of Java, JavaScript, HTML, C, Python and other programming languages

 

What you will do: 

  • Support members of the Information Services team by assisting with documenting simple business or technical requirements and reviewing existing code and related processes.
  • Assist with basic systems analysis activities by helping assess the impact of minor maintenance updates or feature enhancement requests.
  • Contribute to User Interface development by assisting with simple coding tasks and debugging activities based on provided technical requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with IT staff to help write and test well-documented code under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Support the creation of simple prototypes or proof-of-concept solutions to help demonstrate ideas or potential system improvements.
  • Participate in team discussions and design reviews to learn how solutions are developed and ensure they align with functional requirements and technical standards.

 

Summer Student Wage Rates:

  • Summer Students currently enrolled in secondary school or students working solely on administrative activity: $17.60 per hour
  • Summer Students enrolled in post-secondary, first-time hire: $18.35 per hour
  • Summer Students enrolled in post-secondary, returning employment: $19.35 per hour

 

Duration of Employment:  May through to the end of August
