You are a curious and motivated student with a strong interest in government, public policy, and stakeholder engagement. You enjoy researching complex issues, organizing information, and supporting initiatives that strengthen relationships with government partners and external stakeholders. With strong communication skills and attention to detail, you help ensure engagement activities and materials are accurate, timely, and well coordinated.

You have:
- Enrolment in secondary or post-secondary education, with a preference for post-secondary studies in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, Government Relations, Communications, or a related field, with a requirement to return to studies in the next academic term
- General proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; Teams)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to take direction, work independently, and contribute effectively as part of a team
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Effective organizational skills and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
- Business professionalism and customer-service orientation
- Must meet Ontario's minimum working age for the job duties required
What you will do:
- Assist the Government Relations team in researching and preparing briefing materials, backgrounders, presentations, and correspondence for internal and external stakeholders
- Support tracking and coordination of government and stakeholder engagement activities, including meetings, events, and outreach initiatives
- Assist with compiling stakeholder lists, contact information, and engagement records
- Conduct research on government priorities, legislation, policy initiatives, and sector issues relevant to MPAC’s mandate
- Support updates to internal tracking tools, databases, and shared resources related to government relations activities
- Provide administrative and clerical support including filing, scanning, document organization, and meeting preparation
- Attend events representing MPAC and interact with elected officials
- Support project coordination by tracking timelines, identifying issues, and escalating matters to the manager as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Summer Student Wage Rates:
- Summer Students currently enrolled in secondary school or students working solely on administrative activity: $17.60 per hour
- Summer Students enrolled in post-secondary, first-time hire: $18.35 per hour
- Summer Students enrolled in post-secondary, returning employment: $19.35 per hour
Duration of Employment: May through to the end of August
