You have: 

  • Enrollment in secondary or post-secondary education, with a preference for post-secondary education in Urban Planning, Geography, Data Science, Public Policy, Economics or a related field and returning to studies in the next academic term
  • Proficiency using software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong ability to take direction, work independently and collaboratively with team members
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills to assist branch with concurrent priorities
  • Must meet Ontario's minimum working age for the job duties required


Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of programs and languages including QGIS, SPSS, R and Python


What you will do: 

  • Support data collection and analysis of both MPAC and third-party data sources
  • Prepare research including literature reviews and jurisdictional scans
  • Work with the Research, Insights & Engagement branch to identify property and demographic trends
  • Assist with the development of presentations, maps, tables, charts, and memos for the purposes of communicating project objectives and outcomes
  • Participate in project meetings and capture detailed minutes
  • Support consultation and engagement efforts with external parties including industry and government
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Occasional travel to MPAC offices for in person meetings

 

Summer Student Wage Rates:

  • Summer Students currently enrolled in secondary school or students working solely on administrative activity: $17.20 per hour
  • Summer Students enrolled in post-secondary, first-time hire: $17.95 per hour 
  • Summer Students enrolled in post-secondary, returning employment: $18.95 per hour


Duration of Employment:  May through to the end of August
