Job Description

You are an innovative data leader who shapes and evolves MPAC’s unified framework for enterprise metadata, lineage, and platform interoperability. (such as Collibra). You excel at overseeing configuration, steward engagement, governed dataset creation, and system integrations. You collaborate effectively with Data Governance, vendors and technology teams to operationalize data standards, enhance metadata usage, strength control framework, and elevate data quality to drive adoption across the organization. You confidently guide the intake and prioritization of new data sources and ensure effective use of technology to enable MPAC’s data governance, quality, and transformation goals.

You have:
- Post-secondary education in computer science, data science, information systems, or a related field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in data management, metadata, analytics, or governance, including 3 years in a leadership role overseeing people, platforms, or strategic initiatives
- Experience leading enterprise data platform implementations and shaping metadata structures that support business needs
- Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, metadata standards, data quality practices, and compliance requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to lead teams, coordinate issue and change management, and deliver cross-functional data initiatives
- Strong relationship building and collaboration skills
- Familiar with Java Application Programming Interface (API) architecture
- Proficiency with analytics tools (SAS, R and/or Python), database SQL queries, and enterprise data governance tools such as Collibra
- Knowledge of emerging data and metadata management trends
- Willingness to travel occasionally to head office, field offices, and corporate events across Ontario as needed

- Experience within a public sector environment
What you will do:
- Lead the evolution of MPAC’s Collibra platform, including roadmap development, governance model updates, vendor management, platform enhancements, and onboarding of new data sources
- Champion automation, integrations, and scalable platform use cases while monitoring KPIs and ensuring alignment with enterprise data strategy
- Drive enterprise metadata practices by supporting stewards, maintaining key metadata assets, standardizing definitions, and promoting transparency
- Oversee development of certified datasets and data marketplace assets
- Foster a collaborative, accountable team culture through performance management, staffing, training, scheduling, and career development
- Ensure processes and expectations are clearly documented and understood
- Support annual planning by monitoring budgets, managing contracts, approving expenditures, and developing business cases to improve efficiency and effectiveness
MPAC has a number of office locations throughout Ontario. As part of the hiring process, the successful candidate may be placed at the MPAC office in closest proximity to an individual’s residence or a location as determined by MPAC.
