You have: 

  • A post-secondary education in a related field such as Real Property Administration, Urban Studies, Business Administration, etc
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a valuation and/or assessment capacity
  • Supervisor and/or team lead experience to mentor, train and motivate teams
  • Good understanding of the Ontario Land Registry System, real property title searching methods, financial statements, and survey computations
  • Good understanding of relevant sections of the Assessment Act and related legislation including the Condominium Act, Planning Act, Surveys Act, and the Municipal Act 2001
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint, all relevant assessment database applications (i.e. IPS, EMS, Worksight, Atlas, Source) and statistical software programs


Nice to have:

  • Understanding of the parcelization process
  • Completion or working towards a professional designation from one of the following accrediting organizations:
    o    Appraisal Institute of Canada: Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI™)
    o    International Association of Assessing Officers: Certified Assessment Evaluator (CAE) 
    o    Institute of Municipal Assessors: Member of the IMA (MIMA) 
    o    Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors: Member of RICS (MRICS), Fellow of RICS (FRICS)   


What you will do:

  • Lead a team of staff and support them through their day-to-day activities by providing technical guidance and advice in resolving unusual or complex issues
  • Facilitate and present to internal and external audiences
  • Supervise the collection of general data, received from Ontario Land Registry, Municipalities and Property Owners/Tenants
  • Resolve registration issues and data mapping conflicts including legal descriptions and ownership discrepancies, valuation and tax classification and municipal address related issues, providing historic property information and parcel boundary confirmation
  • Develop and improve procedures and automation tools to facilitate the transfer of data and support the data governance process
  • Participate on internal committees and projects to provide expertise on land parcel issues
  • Liaise with Information Technology to coordinate and participate in user acceptance testing, providing product development and enhancement recommendations and technical solutions to improve overall efficiency
  • Monitor and provide work flow recommendations to ensure customer service level agreements are met
  • Respond to internal and external enquiries from Stakeholders
